The organization celebrates its first year of existence.Sainte-Anne-de-Kent, November 28th 2019 - It has been 1 year since the incorporation of the provincial organization that represents and gives a voice to New Brunswick's francophone and bilingual violence services.
In November 2018, the organization formally incorporated as a non-profit corporation under the name " Réseau des services pour victimes de violence du Nouveau-Brunswick Inc.” (Réseau). Since then, the organization hired its first coordinator in June 2019 and officially formed its governance during its first annual general meeting in September 2019.
"It is with great enthusiasm that the Réseau des services pour victimes de violence du N.-B. is working with its members across the province to bring the issue of violence to the provincial level. Our organization works with many partners, such as the New Brunswick South Central Transition House and Second Stage Coalition Inc., to ensure that services for people affected by all forms of violence are accessible across the province. It has already been a year since our organization has been working on the development of our network. We are pleased with the results of our first year of building a strong foundation and identifying common issues related to violence in New Brunswick, " says Angèle Losier, Chair of the Réseau des services pour victimes de violence du N.-B.
The Réseau is an organization whose members are violence prevention services, shelters and second-stage housing for women and children who are victims of violence. So far, this network has 5 members across the province. Its mandate is to provide support and act as a voice for its members. In addition to raise public awareness about the realities of violence and its harmful effects.
The vision of the Réseau is "A society free of all violence". Accordingly, the Réseau works in collaboration with the anglophone organization, the New Brunswick South Central Transition House and Second Stage Coalition Inc., towards this ultimate goal.
“The domestic violence sector in New Brunswick has a tremendous opportunity to improve provincial services to victims and create a strong united voice by bringing our two coalitions together to learn, develop best practices and speak with one united voice. We are looking forward to our increased collaboration with the professional and passionate members of the Reseau,” says Debrah Westerburg, coordinator, New Brunswick
South Central Transition House and Second Stage Coalition, Inc.
